Cabinet Paints (Opaques)

Cabinet paints are applied to cabinetry products when the desired look is an opaque-colored finish. A painted cabinet finish on tighter grained types of wood like Maple will result in a smooth finish. On coarse-grained wood like oak, the grain texture will be partially visible under the finish.

Cabinet Stains

Stains are applied to cabinet doors to enhance the natural beauty of the wood, while also adding beautiful color. Cabinet stains can range from light to very dark. Light stains will allow you to see more of the wood's natural character, while darker stains will hide much of the grain, but can create richer color and a more dramatic look.

Cabinet Glazes

Cabinet glazes are meant to highlight the different profiled edges on cabinetry doors, mouldings and accent pieces. Applied to both cabinet stain and cabinet paint finishes, there are two types of glazes: flooded or penned. In the flooded glaze process, the glaze is sprayed onto the entire cabinet door and is then wiped off, remaining within the profiled areas, yet somewhat changing the overall finish color. With the penned glaze application, the cabinet glaze is hand-applied to only to the profiled areas, while the base color remains the same.

Finishing Techniques

Cabinet finishing techniques like sanding edges, distressing the finish, or adding dents and gouges to cabinets, can create a time worn and perfectly aged look. Finishing techniques are a great way to give cabinetry a truly unique appearance. Omega offers both Vintage and Vintage Touch as well as Antiquing and Brushed Finishes to emphasize your style.
